Steve Nash: I know a lot of players from my generation are critical of the game. But I watch these playoff games, and I love it. I love the NBA. I love the little battles, the chess matches, the randomness — but with principles. To me, the game’s in a beautiful place. LeBron James: And I loved it growing up. But sometimes, the older generation makes you not want to love the game you grew up watching. Like, I grew up loving Knicks vs. Bulls playoff series. Pacers vs. Knicks. I loved that. And even though I never saw MJ live — I’m from a small town outside of Cleveland — when the Cavs got the chance to play him, that was exciting.

NEW: Caitlin Clark says she was starstruck meeting LeBron James for the first time: ‘He’s my favorite player of all time.’
She lit up reflecting on that interaction, and his social media posts from the weekend.

LeBron James wishes Caitlin Clark good luck this season on Instagram.
As I reported in March, they met for the first time outside the Lakers’ locker room after his game-winner.

More on this storyline
LeBron James We’re listening, fans. I want you all to know that. We hear you. We always want to make sure the game of basketball is viewed from your point of view — that you love the product. We’re always trying to improve. But the game changes. The conversation of ‘I wish the game was like it used to be’ — it’s too far gone. Everything changes. -via YouTube / May 20, 2025
LeBron James: But now, that generation talks so much s*** about today’s game, it makes you go back and watch those old games — and it makes you not even want to appreciate them the way you did as a kid. Steve Nash: You go back and watch now, and it doesn’t feel as good as it did then. It was great — it was the best on the planet. LeBron James: Or like, they say, ‘We can’t be friends,’ or, ‘Why are you smiling on the court?’ Then someone pulls a clip of them standing next to an opponent during the Finals, smiling and laughing. Like, what the hell? Can we just be honest? Steve Nash: Memories are fallible. Memories aren’t perfect. LeBron James: If you want your movie — you write your own script.” -via YouTube / May 20, 2025
Who’s your GOAT? Walter Clayton Jr: LeBron. Just the way he impacts the game, man. He impacts the game at all levels, whether you need somebody to score. You’re so worried about him scoring and driving to the basket, you gotta help. So that’s creating opportunities for shooters. And then people say he’s not a great defender, man. He’s a pretty good defender, I’m not gonna lie. So I think LeBron is the GOAT in just all the aspects of the game that he affects. -via HoopsHype / May 20, 2025
