Kansas has buzz for one of the top power forwards in the 2026 class, according to a national analyst. Jamie Shaw of Rivals is projecting that the Jayhawks will ultimately land 2026 four-star power forward Davion Adkins. Shaw has only assessed a 30 percent conference level to this prediction for now, but still, Kansas is a significant player in Adkins’ recruitment.
Kansas Has Buzz for a 4-Star, Top-5 Power Forward
The 6-foot-8, 205-pound Adkins recently disclosed a top six of Auburn, Houston, Indiana, Kansas, Rutgers and UCLA. Per Shaw, Adkins will officially visit all six schools. The schedule is as follows: Indiana (September 13), Rutgers (September 18), Kansas (September 26), Houston (October 11), Auburn (October 18), and UCLA (October 25).
Within the 2026 cycle, Adkins is ranked as high as No. 24 nationally by Rivals. Both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking have him in the top 40 overall of this class. The majority of recruiting services deem Adkins a top-four power forward/center in 2026.
Throughout his recruiting process, Adkins has received scholarship offers from teams such as UCLA, Auburn, Houston, Kansas, Rutgers, Indiana, Arizona State, California, Kansas State, LSU, Oregon, SMU, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech, among others.
Big Senior Year Loading
Adkins played last season at the Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy in Dallas. He will spend his senior year at the powerhouse Prolific Prep, which has moved its campus from Napa, Calif., to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In the 2024-25 campaign, Prolific Prep sported a 35-6 record and advanced to the semifinals of the Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind.

This offseason, Prolific Prep has added numerous talented transfers. Some high school hoops experts believe that the Crew is likely to be the No. 1 overall team in preseason top-25 rankings ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
Besides Adkins, key transfers to Prolific Prep for the upcoming season include 2026 five-star shooting guard Caleb Holt, 2027 five-star small forward Bruce Branch III, 2026 four-star power forward MJ Madison and 2027 five-star point guard Nasir Anderson. With all these top-flight players, the Crew should reach the Chipotle Nationals yet again in the spring of 2026.
Stock-Rising Summer
On the AAU circuit this spring and summer, Adkins earned high marks from analysts and scouts. He competed for the 17U team of the Dallas-based Southern Assault in the Adidas 3SSB league. During the most recent grassroots hoops season, 247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein characterized Adkins as one of the best big men on the Adidas circuit.
According to Synergy, Adkins averaged 13.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game for Southern Assault. The scouting experts at The Circuit named Adkins to their All-3SSB defensive team.
Top 2026 Targets for Kansas
Like many programs, the Jayhawks remain in search of their first verbal pledge in the 2026 cycle. The Big 12 Conference juggernaut, however, is heavily involved with a bunch of highly ranked seniors. Kansas will likely secure commitments from a couple of these recruiting targets.
The Kansas coaching staff is prioritizing 2026 prospects such as Adkins, five-star forward Tyran Stokes, five-star point guard Taylen Kinney, four-star center Arafan Diane, five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr., four-star shooting guard Ikenna Alozie, four-star center Ethan Taylor and four-star center Josh Irving, among others.
