The Chicago Bulls signed guard Yuki Kawamura to a two-way contract and waived Trentyn Flowers in a corresponding roster move. Kawamura, who spent last season with the Memphis Grizzlies, appeared in two preseason games for Chicago this season. The 5-8 guard averaged 3.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 10.8 minutes during the preseason.
Kawamura appeared in 22 games with Memphis during the 2024-25 season, averaging 1.6 points and 0.9 assists in limited playing time. The Yanai, Japan native brings five years of experience from the Japanese B.League. He posted career averages of 16.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 7.3 assists across 167 games with San-en NeoPhoenix and Yokohama B-Corsairs.
Kawamura earned MVP and Guard of the Year honors in the B.League during the 2022-23 season. He also received two Best Five Team selections during his tenure in Japan’s top professional league.
The Japanese national team member competed in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Kawamura was the only player across all Olympic teams to average at least 20.0 points and 7.0 assists during the tournament.
Flowers appeared in two games with Chicago this season, averaging 2.0 points in 2.8 minutes per game. He also played in three regular season games and 11 Tip-Off Tournament games for the Windy City Bulls, Chicago’s G League affiliate.
The Bulls roster now stands at 18 players, including three two-way contracts. Kawamura joins Emanuel Miller and Lachlan Olbrich as Chicago’s two-way players.
