Angel Reese Trade Machine: 5 Landing Spots That Could Break the Internet

September 9, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

Angel Reese trade rumors are heating up as the Chicago Sky star faces a turbulent stretch with the franchise. The second-year forward was suspended for half a game against Las Vegas after making comments the Sky deemed “detrimental to the team.” Although Reese later apologized, tensions continue to rise—especially after a WNBA executive blasted the Sky as “probably the worst-run organization in the league” and urged Reese to demand a trade.

Reese said in an interview that she “might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for [her].” The 23-year-old also appeared to criticize her teammates, suggesting that the roster might not be strong enough to compete for a championship. She singled out veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot, questioning whether the team should still be built around her as she approaches 37 and recovers from a major knee injury. Reese also named Rachel Banham and Hailey Van Lith, implying that the backcourt lacked the firepower needed to make a deep playoff run.

The fallout has shaken the Chicago Sky locker room and sparked debate among fans and analysts. With Angel Reese’s future now uncertain, here are five trade destinations that could break the internet if she leaves the franchise.

Angel Reese Trade Machine: 5 Landing Spots That Could Break the Internet

1. Dallas Wings

Dallas has won only 18 games across the past two seasons and has not advanced past a single playoff round since moving from Tulsa in 2016. Pairing Reese with rookie guard Paige Bueckers would immediately transform the franchise. Together, Reese and Bueckers would rank among the league’s most dynamic duos. If Dallas retains Arike Ogunbowale in the offseason, the Wings could roll out a core of three All-Star-caliber players capable of contending in the West.

2. Minnesota Lynx

The Minnesota Lynx offer Angel Reese the opportunity to win right away. Chicago drafted her with the No. 7 pick it acquired from Minnesota in 2024. Now, with the league leaders holding Chicago’s pick again, both sides have the pieces for a potential trade. The Lynx lack a true center but rely on versatile forwards. Minnesota would strengthen its interior and balance its roster by adding Reese. She’d also give them another powerful weapon for a championship push.

3. Seattle Storm

Pressure is mounting to replace head coach Noelle Quinn, and veterans Skylar Diggins and Nneka Ogwumike are approaching free agency. Trading for Reese would send a clear message that Seattle intends to compete with a new, younger core. Reese would join Dominique Malonga and Ezi Magbegor to form a frontcourt defined by length, defense, and power. The Storm hold a possible top-three draft pick and a championship pedigree—factors that make a bold offer feasible.

4. Atlanta Dream

Atlanta already boasts several young talents but needs a long-term anchor in the frontcourt. The Dream are preparing for what’s next as Brittney Griner’s career approaches its twilight. Reese would step into that role immediately, partnering with Rhyne Howard to create one of the most promising young tandems in the league. Her rebounding and interior defense would stabilize Atlanta’s lineup. Atlanta would offer Reese a fresh start, a rising roster, and a market eager to rally around a star.

5. Phoenix Mercury

Although Reese doesn’t perfectly match head coach Nate Tibbetts’ perimeter-oriented offense, the Mercury rarely hesitate when stars become available. They landed Finals MVP Kahleah Copper through a trade, then signed Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas as free agents. Reese would bring grit and rebounding to a roster loaded with shooters. The franchise can also offer Reese better teammates, a competitive environment, and the resources to elevate her game immediately.
