Why Cooper Pratt is the Next Big Prospect for the Brewers

June 21, 2025 by Last Word On Baseball

As the 2025 MLB season approaches its midpoint, the Milwaukee Brewers have seen several young hitters step into the spotlight, but none have generated more buzz than shortstop Cooper Pratt. Only 20 years old, Pratt has quickly become a must-watch prospect for fantasy baseball enthusiasts, thanks to his blend of speed, contact ability, and emerging power.

Cooper Pratt is the Brewers’ Next Big Thing

A Snapshot of the Stats

In 2024, Pratt split time between Low-A and High-A, posting a combined slash line of .294/.394/.395 across 96 games. He tallied eight home runs and an impressive 25 stolen bases, demonstrating his dual-threat capabilities. His plate discipline stood out as well, with an 81:42 K:BB ratio in 73 games at Low-A, and a 24:4 K:BB ratio in a 23-game High-A sample. These numbers highlight his advanced approach and suggest further growth as he matures.

Emerging Power Upside

While Pratt’s power numbers were modest in Low-A, his late-season promotion to High-A saw a notable jump, with five home runs in just 23 games. Scouts project that as Pratt fills out his 6’4” frame and refines his approach, he could develop into a 25-homer threat at the big-league level. This combination of developing power and established speed marks him as a potential fantasy cornerstone.

Elite Speed and Baserunning

Pratt’s speed is already a major asset. With 25 stolen bases last season, he’s shown that he can be a difference-maker in one of fantasy baseball’s most coveted categories. His instincts on the basepaths and high contact rate suggest he’ll continue to rack up steals as he climbs the minor league ladder and eventually debuts in Milwaukee.

Plate Discipline and Contact Skills

One of Pratt’s most impressive traits is his plate discipline. His walk rate hovered around 10%, and his strikeout rate remained manageable, especially for a player his age facing advanced pitching. This approach should help him maintain a high on-base percentage, providing more opportunities to utilize his speed and drive in runs.

Comparison to Other Brewers Prospects

While other Brewers prospects like Jesus Made and Luis Pena have also attracted attention, Pratt’s proximity to the majors and more advanced statistical profile give him the edge in 2025 fantasy potential. Made is still just 17 and playing in the DSL, while Pena’s eye-popping stats come with the caveat of lower-level competition. Pratt’s production against older, more advanced pitchers makes his breakout more sustainable and projectable.

Path to the Majors and Playing Time

Given his rapid ascent and the Brewers’ need for dynamic infielders, Pratt could see MLB action as soon as late 2025 or early 2026. His versatility and athleticism make him a candidate for everyday playing time, and his skill set fits perfectly into the modern fantasy landscape, where multi-category contributors are highly valued.

Fantasy Outlook for 2025 and Beyond

Cooper Pratt stands out as the Brewers prospect with the most fantasy potential. His blend of speed, emerging power, and advanced plate skills place him among the top fantasy prospects in the organization. As he continues to develop, fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his progress—he could soon be a league-winner in dynasty and keeper formats.
