The Knights dropped a competitive series, and they are now three games below .500.
Shortstop Jacob Amaya, 26, was designated for assignment on May 16, but he had a big week for the Knights. Amaya finished 7-for-11 with four walks, as pitchers struggled immensely to retire him. In 33 games for the White Sox this season, Amaya went 6-for-62 with only one extra-base hit (a double) and two walks. In other words, based on Amaya’s performance, he matches the description of a Quadruple-A player. However, Amaya has slashed .250/.347/.382 across 294 career Triple-A games, and his defense at shortstop is decent, so there is a pathway back to the majors.

The Barons came back down to earth after last week’s six-game sweep. This week, the Barons dropped a close series to Knoxville (24-26).
William Bergolla, 20, whose playing time has mostly been at shortstop, got back on track with an excellent week. Bergolla does not have much power, but he found many ways to contribute, and his weekly OPS narrowly topped .900. Bergolla went 8-for-23 with three doubles, three walks, and a stolen base in his only attempt. Bergolla is MLB Pipeline’s No. 14 White Sox prospect despite having the minimum power grade (20). This week, Bergolla displayed that he has a solid pathway to MLB, especially given how young he is and how well he is handling Double-A.

For the second straight week, the Dash outperformed expectations, resulting in a series split. This time, the Dash faced Hub City (27-24) on the road.
Starting pitcher Tanner McDougal, 22, stood out on the mound for the Dash. McDougal, a fifth round pick who the White Sox drafted out of high school in 2021, is making sizable strides forward this season. McDougal struggled after being promoted from Kannapolis to Winston-Salem last year, posting a 6.04 ERA and a 5.09 FIP in 16 starts with the Dash. This year, however, has been an entirely different story. After McDougal’s brilliant start, his ERA is 3.61, and his FIP is 3.94. McDougal’s strikeout rate has ballooned to 11.4 per nine innings, and although walks are still an issue, he did not issue any on Saturday.

The Cannon Ballers dropped four out of six, and they are back within three games of .500. Kannapolis won two of the first three games before losing the last three against Charleston (24-27).
Shortstop Caleb Bonemer, 19, finished strong to win the weekly and monthly awards for Kannapolis. This is already Bonemer’s second weekly award this season. This week, Bonemer hit 6-for-15 with a homer, a double, and four walks. Bonemer, who plays a position that generally is not expected to provide much offense, has a 158 wRC+ overall. Bonemer is certainly outperforming the high expectations the White Sox had when they drafted him in the second round last year.

For the second straight week, the ACL White Sox won three out of five, and they have recovered from a slow start to reach .500.
Adrian Gil, 19, was on fire this week to claim the Player of the Week award. Gil hit five homers and posted a .949 in 60 at-bats to win the Complex Sox Player of the Month award for May, too. In addition to his hot bat, Gil has provided defensive flexibility, getting playing time at first base and catcher. Gil also has experience at second base and third base, where he spent a decent chunk of time in 2024. This week, Gil provided a major spark, finishing 5-for-14 with a homer and two walks.
