CHICAGO — The Chicago White Sox have traded outfielder Austin Slater to the New York Yankees.
The veteran outfielder fills a temporary role for the Bronx Bombers after Aaron Judge headed to the injured list.
Slater has posted a .236/.299/.423 with five home runs in 51 games on the South Side this year.
The White Sox acquired starting pitcher Gage Ziehl, 22, in exchange. He is the Yankees’ no. 18 prospect, per MLB pipeline.
Ziehl was a fourth-round pick last year and his best graded pitch is a slider.
MLB insider Mark Feinsand reported that the White Sox have scratched Adrian Houser for his Wednesday afternoon start against the Phillies, yet no trade is in place at this time.
Houser has been phenomenal for the South Side with a 2.10 ERA after signing a one-year deal on May 20.
