No new arms on Sunday! The South Siders commit to three bats on the first day
With their third round pick (No. 76 overall), the White Sox selected shortstop Kyle Lodise of Georgia Tech University. The 5´11´´, 180-pounder is seen as a bat-first player who may not stick at shortstop but boasts a more advanced offensive approach than first-rounder Billy Carlson.
MLB had Fauske ranked as the No. 79 prospect in the draft, so again there’s not a massive cut in talent at this spot (in past years, and certainly in 2024, the White Sox were drafting way under-slot talent with most picks).
The shortstop mashed at GTech in 2025, but struggled with a move to wood in the Cape Cod League last summer, so temper that 55 hit tool with a possible power outage. There is already talk about a lack of range moving him to second base, and a ceiling that might well be MLB utilityman.
