College’s only 20-20 player is yet another bat headed to Chicago
With their seventh round pick (No. 196 overall), the White Sox selected third baseman Anthony DePino from the University of Rhode Island. The 5´11´´, 218-pounder was college baseball’s only 20-20 player last season and boasted an OPS of better than 1.200.
MLB did not rank DePino in its Top 250 heading into the draft, and as a senior with nowhere else to go this is very clearly an aggressive flier on a player who will be forced to sign at slot or likely under.
Power is a big part of DePino’s game, as his defense and quicks may ultimately send him across the diamond to first base.
