This week, hey you might have realized by looking at South Side Sox, was the MLB draft. And the White Sox went extremely bat-heavy with their picks, the first four and six of the first seven selections being bats — including three shortstops!
For a team that had one of the worst offensive WARs as a club of all time in 2024 and that is struggling in 2025 to compile a positive WAR, the answer to this question might be obvious. But given that the overall balance of the draft was almost even (11 players, nine pitchers), was it the right move to swing so heavily in the direction of offense?
