On the club’s website, the significance of the unique radio is described as follows:
“Honors the ‘Go! Go! White Sox,’ who captured their first pennant in 40 years, led by Hall of Famers Aparicio, Fox, Lopez and Wynn. Celebrates the electrifying 1959 season when the team energized Chicago with its dynamic style of play, despite falling to the Dodgers in the World Series. A nod to the golden era of radio, as 1959 invitied fans to follow the White Sox over the airwaves in the Fall Classic. Reflects a transformative moment in media history, as television begins to eclipse radio as the dominant form of mass communication.”

The radio will be made available to the first 10,000 fans on September 21st. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. CT against the San Diego Padres.
