Shortly after promoting Grant Taylor from Double-A Birmingham, the White Sox are calling up another member of the Barons.
Barstool’s Dave Williams reports that the left-handed pitcher Jake Palisch is being brought up ahead of their weekend series in Toronto. As part of the corresponding moves, lefty reliever Cam Booser (left shoulder strain) and starting pitcher Davis Martin (right forearm strain) are headed to the IL. Right-hander Caleb Freeman has also been designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
Palisch, 26, was signed by the White Sox as an undrafted free agent on July 31, 2022 out of Texas A&M University. He spent the remainder of that summer in Kannapolis before making the leap to Winston-Salem in 2023. Palisch has spent the past two seasons in Double-A Birmingham, and currently owns a 1.19 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over 53 innings pitched in 2025.
Earlier this month, the White Sox named Palisch as their Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May. The righty went 2-1 with a 0.75 ERA, 0.54 WHIP, .092 opponents’ batting average and 22 strikeouts over five appearances (four starts) with Birmingham during that stretch. He was 1-1 with a 0.86 ERA, 0.52 WHIP, .101 opponents’ batting average and 20 strikeouts as a starter. In addition, Palisch earned Southern League Pitcher of the Week honors for May 5-11 after tossing five perfect innings with five strikeouts in his only start on May 8.
Joining Palisch will also be Wikelman Gonzalez, who has been called up from Triple-A Charlotte. With Booser headed to the injured list, Gonzalez figures to assume his role in the bullpen. That leaves Palisch as the likely placeholder for Martin in the rotation.
