The entire system posted Ws and they combined for 28 runs, with 10 each from Winston-Salem and Charlotte
Charlotte Knights 10, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 9 (Statcast Box)
The Knights (31-32) offense exploded for 10 runs in the first two innings on Sunday to cap off a high-octane weekend and snag the 10-9 win over the IronPigs (43-20) for the series — even with a bullpen snafu. Charlotte averaged just more than eight runs per game in the series (49 total), but their pitching struggled a bit and gave up just 10 less (39).
The Knights put up eight hits to the Pelicans’ nine and went 3-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Corey Julks and Andrew Vaughn each had two-hit games, and Vaughn posted four RBIs, including a three-run bomb in the second.

Dominic Fletcher and Andre Lipcius also each sent a deep ball out of the park, and Bryan Ramos mashed a sac fly so deep that it scored two runs, adding to the madness.

Evan McKendry made his sixth start of the season for the Knights, and wasn’t too shabby (five innings, two runs, four hits, a homer, two strikeouts). The 10 runs of support proved to be much-needed, as Keone Kela and Peyton Pallette did not have their best performances out of the bullpen. Kela gave up two runs on a long ball in the seventh, but Pallette fell off the rails in the eighth and allowed five runs in the blink of an eye after a hit-by-pitch, walk, fielder’s choice-turned error, and a single before Chris Rodríguez came in to get out of the inning and maintain the one-run lead.
Thankfully Adisyn Coffey was on it today, and managed a hitless save to close out the game with two strikeouts.
Birmingham Barons 3, Rocket City Trash Pandas 2
Lefthander Jake Palisch threw an excellent six-inning outing that would have been scoreless had it not been for two throwing errors that led to runs, and the Barons (31-25) had just enough offense to tie the series and defeat the Trash Pandas (21-34), 3-2.

Andrew Dalquist and Dalton Roach took over for the rest of the game and were lights-out from the bullpen as well, combining for three no-hit innings while striking out seven.
The Barons offense posted nine hits but went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight on base, but they were able take the lead early on the first and tack on another in the fourth to hold on to the W. William Bergolla and Jacob Gonzalez each had two hits, though it was Bergolla and DJ Gladney who accounted for the RBIs.
Winston-Salem Dash 10, Asheville Tourists 6 (10 innings)
Nearly all of the Dash (21-36) starters got a hit on Sunday, putting up 15 as a team in their four-run, extra-inning win over the Tourists (25-32) to split the series with their third win in a row. Winston-Salem went 6-for-20 with runners in scoring position, and scored five individual runs in separate innings before the lead was blown in the bottom of the ninth as Carson Jacobs gave up two solo bombs that allowed Asheville to tie it.
The Dash went through seven pitchers while trying to win this game, and Frankeli Arias tossed the first four and gave up just two hits, two walks, and struck out three. While the save was blown in the ninth, it had already happened in the game once before as Nick Altermatt allowed three runs (one earned) in the sixth. Leave it to Winston-Salem to somehow win a game in extras with not one but two blown saves.
The Dash popped off in the 10th, however, and Samuel Zavala immediately singled to drive in the go-ahead run. Zavala has been on a heater recently as the best qualified Dash hitter over the past month (.805 OPS), been blowing his teammates out of the water over the past two weeks (.357/.426/.500). It’s exciting to see a resurgence from Zavala, and hopefully it sticks this time.
Jackson Appel and Alex Makarewicz walked to load the bases shortly after to keep the fun going, and Matt Hogan drove in the second run of the inning on a sac fly. Sam Antonacci (2-for-2, 2B, 3 R, RBI, 4 BB) walked to get on base for his sixth time of the day, and both Jeral Perez and Braden Montgomery poked base hits to add to the lead.
Also very true:
Sam Antonacci (CHW) reached base 6 times today, going 2-2 with a double, 4 walks, and 2 steals. In 4 High-A games since returning from IL he is 5-12 (.417) with a HR, 2 2B, 3 SB, and a 2.0 BB/K (6 BB:3 K).
He has a .458 OBP in A+ this season and is probably too good to be there.

Out for the 10th, Morris Austin did allow one run from another sac fly, but the Tourists weren’t able to muster any other runs across the plate, allowing the Dash to hold on to the W.
Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, 5, Myrtle Beach Pelicans 4
The Ballers (31-26) and Pelicans (20-35) battled back and forth in Sunday’s game, but late heroics from the Kanny offense led to them racking up a 5-4 walk-off win, also allowing them to win the series.
Kaleb Sophy was the first of six Kannapolis pitchers for the game, and began with four decent innings and gave up two runs on six hits with one walk with three strikeouts, bringing him to a 2.33 ERA on the season thus far. Pierce George was the only other Ballers pitcher to give up a run, as he gave up two in the sixth and allowed the Pelicans to re-take the lead, after Kannapolis had just tied it at two the inning prior on a Javier Mogollón homer.
The offense was alive and well too, as they had put up 12 hits as a team, and went 3-for-9 with runners in scoring position, even though they had scored one run each in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. Mogollón, Miguel Santos, Ronny Hernández, and Lyle Miller-Green all put up two hits, though T.J. McCants led the team with two RBIs.

Hernández ripped a base hit to left to score Mogollón to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, and the Ballers were in prime position to win the game. In a WILD turn of a events, Myrtle Beach reliever, Jackson Kirkpatrick, threw a wild pitch (did you see what I did there?) that scored Santos to win the game for Kannapolis.
