The White Sox are getting the band back together for us all to enjoy.
2005 Reunion Weekend is just 10 days away (July 11-13), and the White Sox continue to release more information on a packed weekend to celebrate your ’05 World Series Champions.
Most recently, the White Sox have released information on which members of the staff and roster will be returning to the ballpark throughout the weekend to reminisce and be celebrated – a total of 23 players and seven additional staff members have been named.
Here’s your returning cast as of now!
- Coaches: Ozzie Guillen (Manager), Harold Baines (Bench Coach), Greg Walker (Hitting Coach), Herm Schneider (Athletic Trainer)
- Pitchers: Cliff Politte, Jon Garland, Orlando Hernandez, Dustin Hermanson, Freddy Garcia, Damaso Marte, Neal Cotts, Luis Vizcaino, Jose Contreras, Mark Buehrle
- Catchers: A.J. Pierzynski, Christopher Widger
- Infielders: Juan Uribe, Paul Konerko, Tadahito Iguchi, Joe Crede, Geoff Blum, Pablo Ozuna
- Outfielders: Timo Perez, Scott Podsednik, Jermaine Dye, Carl Everett, Brian Anderson
- Broadcasters: Hawk Harrelson, Darrin Jackson, John Rooney
Some of these names certainly aren’t surprising: Scott Podsednik, Ozzie Guillen, A.J. Pierzynski, and others have had pretty public lives even after leaving the White Sox, including both Podsednik and Guillen working for Comcast Sports Net/CHSN in the previous seasons. Others will likely be making their first public appearance back at the ballpark since they last played in a White Sox uniform. The most notable name not on the list thus far is Frank Thomas, and it is unclear if more names could eventually be added to this list. Thomas has played a role in pregame and postgame work with the White Sox over the years, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see his name eventually pop up on this list.
To celebrate the return of so many, the White Sox have a full weekend planned for fans who make their way out to the ballpark. The day you won’t want to miss is Saturday, July 12, as that is the day the team will have a reunion ceremony before the game. At other points throughout the weekend, the White Sox will also have pregame photograph sessions, gate giveaways, Mark Buehrle’s statue unveiling ceremony, ceremonial first pitches, and much more!
As the White Sox continue to release more details, we will provide more updates. For now, start getting in the mood for the reunion by watching the first of a four-episode series by the team titled “05 Forever.” The first episode explored how Kenny Williams, Rick Hahn, and even Hawk Harrelson played a role in putting together the roster that would win it all in Houston eight months after Opening Day.
New episodes are dropping every Thursday, so don’t miss out!
