The post White Sox 12, Mariners 10: Hot bats lead to slugfest victory appeared first on Sox On 35th.
When the dust settled from Tuesday’s 22-run, 28-hit offensive showcase, it was the White Sox emerging victorious. The Sox earned their fourth win in five tries this Spring thanks to an offense that scored early and often, edging out the Mariners 12-10.
Lenyn Sosa got things started with a first-inning double to drive in Austin Hays before Tanner Murray went deep the next inning to put the Sox up two.
The team jumped out to a three-run lead in the fourth as Brooks Baldwin, Curtis Mead and Edgar Quero all drove in runs. Seattle then plated two in their half of the frame to cut the lead to one.
In the fifth, the Sox reclaimed their three-run lead thanks to LaMonte Wade Jr. and Murray driving in runs, but the Mariners responded right back to tie things up at 9.
Oliver Dunn put the Sox up for good with a two run double in the seventh, while Mario Camilletti tacked on a pair of crucial insurance runs as the game drew to a close.
On the mound, Anthony Kay dealt with some control issues, but still sat in the mid-90s on his fastball in his two innings of work. Walks plagued the staff, with the team issuing 12 in the win. Only Chase Plymell, Adisyn Coffey and Zach Franklin turned in scoreless outings, with the latter two nailing down the eighth and ninth innings, respectively.
