The White Sox could be making a splash in the international market, though the move is still years away.
According to MLB insider Francys Romero, the team is expected to sign Dominican shortstop prospect Braston Basker for a signing bonus of $6 million starting January 15, 2030. Per Romero’s post on X, Basker was previously tied to the Yankees, but the pre-agreement fell through several weeks ago.
Basker, who is just 12 years old, caught the attention of several Major League teams after videos surfaced of his extraordinary power for his age. Standing at 5-foot-7, the 140-pound shortstop will break a signing record if and when he inks his contract for the expected $6 million.
This is a developing story. More to come.
