A man was struck by a car and killed in Hazel Crest late Thursday evening shortly after a concerned caller dialed 911 to report someone walking down the road in dark clothing, the Hazel Crest Police Department said in a news release.
The man was identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Anthony Asare, 30, of Hazel Crest.
Police said officers were sent to the 3300 block of 175th Street for a well-being check after the concerned call, but then another call came in reporting that a person was hit by a car in the same area.
Asare was taken to receive medical treatment by paramedics but died of his injuries, police said.
The driver of the vehicle has not been charged with a crime, according to the news release. Police said the matter was still under investigation, and no other information was available.
