South Siders look for the sweep in the Mile High City
Happy Sunday! After a solid two games against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, the Chicago White Sox look for the sweep with a win this afternoon. The club has now won as many series this season, nine, as it did ALL of 2024.
Shane Smith, who has been struggling more as of late, will be on the mound. The Rockies will throw out 23-year-old Chase Dollander as they try to salvage a game.
Smith is 3-6 with a 3.86 ERA this year so far. His last game against the Los Angeles Dodgers was a struggle, going just 4 2⁄3 innings with six hits, six earned runs, three walks, and six strikeouts. Going from starting against the best team in the league to the worst might help him out. We’ll see.
Dollander is 2-9 with a 6.65 ERA for the Rockies this season. He was Colorado’s ninth overall pick in the 2023 MLB draft, and has made his MLB debut this season with the team. Unfortunately, the numbers haven’t been there, but you’re only going to look so good on a 20-69 team. His last outing against the Houston Astros really tanked his season line, as he went just 2 2⁄3 innings with seven hits, six runs, two walks, and one strikeout.

Mike Tauchman leads it off, followed by Chase Meidroth in the 2-hole and Andrew Benintendi. Miguel Vargas bats cleanup, Lenyn Sosa is in the DH spot after a great offensive day yesterday, and Colson Montgomery is back at shortstop. Brooks Baldwin takes center, Edgar Quero will catch, and Ryan Noda closes it out. No Kyle Teel or Michael A. Taylor after his home run yesterday.
