Chicago is looking to fire back with Cannon for another series win
The White Sox (36-66), seeking to bounce back after yesterday’s tight 4-3 loss that snapped their four-game winning streak, will send righthander Jonathan Cannon to the mound. Cannon, in his 15th start of 2025, holds a 4-7 record with a 4.18 ERA and 63 strikeouts over 84 innings this season. He’ll be looking to go deep into the game again as he tossed seven frames and earned the win and a quality start in his last outing on July 18.
For the Tampa Bay Rays, they’ll counter with Taj Bradley, who comes into this matchup with a 6-6 record and a 4.35 ERA across 109 2⁄3 innings in his 20 starts. Bradley boasts an impressive 95 strikeouts this year. This will be the righty’s first career start against the White Sox.
The South Side offense has shown some life recently, scoring 39 runs over their last five games, including an 8-3 win over the Rays in the first game of the series. Luis Robert Jr., who had the day off yesterday, is riding an eight-game hitting streak. However, their overall team batting average of just .223 is still dead last in the league. Their pitching staff, with a collective 4.04 ERA (19th in MLB), fares a bit better.

The Rays, on the other hand (52-49), boast a potent offense with a .256 team batting average, good for the third-best in the league. Yandy Díaz leads their charge, hitting .290 with 16 homers and 34 walks, while Junior Caminero is the team’s power threat with 25 home runs and 65 RBIs.
