Can we at least get one win before we leave Wrigley?
Happy Sunday, Sox fans. The Chicago White Sox will play against the Chicago Cubs in the final game of this three-game set, as the Sox look to avoid the sweep on the North Side. There’s good and bad news. The bad news is that the Crosstown Classic has not gone the South Siders’ way this far, as they have dropped the first two games at Wrigley Field. The good news is that after today, they will not have to return to Wrigley Field.
Jonathan Cannon will go against Colin Rae as the team looks to generate some offense this afternoon, while limiting the Cubs’ offense themselves.
Cannon is 2-4 with a 3.60 ERA, and returning to the mound after a great last start against the Cincinnati Reds. He went six innings with only four hits, no runs, no walks, and six strikeouts. He will look to slow down a red-hot Pete Crow-Armstrong and Cubs offense.
Rea is 3-0 for the Cubs this season as the 34-year-old returns to the Cubs, after spending 2020 on the North Side and 2021-2024 with the Milwaukee Brewers. He has been very solid for the team this season, and most of his outings have been efficient as he’s tossed five or six innings in each appearance.
Here’s some news around the team before we get to the lineups.
Will Venable said pregame that Andrew Benintendi will go on an injury rehab assignment before returning to the White Sox.

Andrew Vaughn is also not in the starting lineup today, getting the day off. It could have to do with just having a day off, or it could have to do with his struggling performance as of late.
