Who will take the series, after two lopsided games so far?
Happy Sunday, Sox fans. Today the Chicago White Sox will play their final game in Canada as they take on the Toronto Blue Jays, and go for the series win. The last two games have been 7-1 victories, Chicago winning on Friday and Toronto on Saturday.
Adrian Houser returns from paternity leave and will face off against Chris Bassitt this afternoon. Houser is 2-2 with a 2.15 ERA in 29 1⁄3 innings pitched with the South Siders this year. He has impressed tremendously in this starting rotation, and looks to continue to do so with another solid outing this afternoon. In his last start against the Texas Rangers he went five innings with six hits, three runs, four walks, and two strikeouts. You can tell he has been good for the team this year because that was actually one of his worse outings, so let’s hope he can bounce back and keep that walk rate down today.
Bassitt is one of the stars of this Blue Jays rotation, as he is 7-3 this season with a 3.73 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. He’s also a very old friend, as the White Sox drafted him in 2011, sent to Oakland with Marcus Semien in the worst trade of the Rick Hahn Era. He has spent most of his career with the Athletics, before a short stint with the New York Mets and now with the Blue Jays since 2023. His last outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks was solid: six innings with six hits, three earned runs, one walk, and five strikeouts.

Chase Meidroth leads it off as he looks to get back on track, followed by Andrew Benintendi and Miguel Vargas. Kyle Teel catches as Edgar Quero gets the day off, and Luis Robert Jr. is in center. DH Ryan Noda is next, followed by Lenyn Sosa, Josh Rojas, and Michael A. Taylor.
