Can the South Siders salvage a series split in today’s finale?
I know I said don’t expect any wins this series when I created a game thread for the series opener earlier this week, but now the White Sox have a chance to split the series with the Tigers this afternoon.
Before I get to the lineup, here is the latest news:
Prior to today’s series finale vs. Detroit, the Chicago White Sox recalled right-handed pitcher Owen White from Class AAA Charlotte and optioned right-hander Caleb Freeman to Charlotte.

And in some long overdue news, CHSN finally has a deal with Xfinity. Hockey and basketball are over for Chicago teams, and it’s June, but better late than never, I guess? Does it truly matter?
Good news for fans of the Bulls, Hawks and White Sox — CHSN finally arrives on Xfinity cable this Friday. https://t.co/RZ0GZ2F8NS

Sean Burke will get the start this afternoon. Mike Tauchman again hits at leadoff today, and Edgar Quero is back in the lineup. Luis Robert Jr. is also missing, as Will Venable has been giving him extra time off to restore his completely broken approach at the plate.

Casey Mize (6-1) will be on the mound for Detroit. Mize has had a great season thus far, owning an ERA of only 2.82.
