Trying for three wins in a row!!
The White Sox are trying to make it a three-peat this afternoon, but will be making the attempt under two very difficult circumstances — horrible weather for baseball, and one of the hottest pitchers in the game starting for Houston. The best hope is that Hunter Brown isn’t fond of pitching in the Arctic, and that Sox starter Davis Martin likes it when his fingers are frozen.
Brown rated a major article on ESPN this week because of how bringing a two-seamer back into his arsenal last May changed him from a near-DFA to a near superstar. The righty not only has a 1.22 ERA so far this year, but has only allowed one run over his last four starts (25 innings). He’ll be facing a lineup that has Luis Robert Jr., the prime reason the Sox have scored 15 runs in their last two games, moved down to the cleanup slot for some reason, as well as DH-ing, with Brooks Baldwin in center instead.

Martin has been very sharp himself of late, giving up no earned runs to the A’s or Twins in his last two starts. He’ll face an Astros lineup that’s a shadow of its usual self: 23rd in MLB in OPS.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. Central with a forecast of 48° and a wind chill of 42° thanks to frigid 17 mph wind blowing left to right. Usual broadcast suspects.
