Breakout artist turns his distinctive typeface and the storied pinwheels into a distinctive baseball cap
Micah Johnson, a former White Sox player turned artist, has teamed up with New Era and the MLB to design a limited edition line of hats for All-Star Weekend. They’re available at both the New Era and Micah Dreams sites for purchase.
This collaboration is a deeply-personal fusion of Micah Johnson’s two defining worlds: professional baseball and fine art. As you can tell, Micah brings his signature style and message to New Era’s iconic base cap.
In addition to the base Canvas Hat, Limited Edition variants will be released featuring embroidered designs hand-drawn by Micah, making each cap a wearable piece of art.
This collaboration is more than a hat — it’s a tribute to Micah’s journey and an invitation for others to dream big. The blank canvas becomes a metaphor for potential, encouraging each wearer to create their own path.
The line of caps are available for several teams, including the Red Sox, Dodgers and Phillies. Iconic art distinctive to each team marks the caps, which launched on July 12 at All-Star Weekend.
“My rookie year, when I toed the third-base line and saw the pinwheels out in center field for the very first time, I knew my dream had finally come true,” Micah says. “That’s why I just had to do a White Sox limited edition.”
You might recall that just three years after his debut at Sox Park and while his playing career was still active with the Tampa Bay Rays, Micah sat down with us to talk about his most memorable moments with the White Sox.
