Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai accused of stealing Travis Kelce’s logo for her new line of sweatshirts

October 2, 2025 by Chicago Tribune

Kai Trump, the bubbly golf star granddaughter of President Donald Trump, has already been under fire over the past week for using the White House to stage a photo shoot to market her rather pricey new line of sweatshirts.

Now, the 18-year-old internet celebrity and political “Nepo baby” is facing the ire of Taylor Swift fans who allege that she has ripped off a logo that’s associated with the pop star’s fiance, Travis Kelce, the Daily Mail and Daily Beast reported. The Daily Beast said that Kai Trump’s logo — an interlocking monogram of her initials, “KT” — is a “dead ringer” for the “TK” logo on American Eagle’s Tru Colors line, the NFL’s star official brand.

The daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife Vanessa Trump last week unveiled her apparel line in a promotional video and images that were staged on the lawn and other settings around the White House.

“This collection is something I’ve dreamed about for a long time, and I’m so grateful it’s finally here,” Kai Trump shared on her various channels, including X. The recent high school graduate and University of Miami student has more than 7.3 million followers and subscribers on Instagram, X, YouTube and TikTok.

“Launching this line has been such an exciting project,” continued Kai Trump, who also wore one of her monogrammed sweatshirts while accompanying her grandfather to the Ryder Cup in New York.

Whether or not Kai Trump crossed an ethical line in using federal property for a photo shoot is being debated, but the young entrepreneur has given the impression to many that she is the latest Trump family member to use her connection to American president to make money.

That point was not lost on some fans of Swift and Kelce.

“Using our White House to promote your new clothing line is not only a bad idea, but you are also copying Travis Kelce’s logo,” one X user wrote in response to Kai Trump’s post.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end launched his collection in August, debuting the line a day after he and Swift made news by announcing their engagement after two years of dating, the Daily Mail reported. Kelce’s Tru Kolors ads featured a number of fellow sports stars, including gymnast Sunisa Lee, U-Conn basketball player Azzi Fudd and Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. The line also sells more than 90 products, including sweatshirts, hats and jackets with Kelce’s interlocking “TK” logo.

Neither American Eagle nor Kelce have publicly addressed the issue of Kai Trump’s logo appearing to be similar to the Tru Kolors brand, the Daily Mail reported.

Meanwhile, Kai Trump’s X feed was filled with hundreds of additional scathing comments, and not just from fans of Swift and Kelce but also from people who are critical of her grandfather and the rest of her family.

“You may want to think twice, your logo is already trademarked by American Eagle/Travis Kelce,” another person wrote. “Of course, you’re a Trump so you think you can do whatever you want with no repercussions.”

Similarly, another person wrote: “Hey, Travis @tkelce. I believe you already have this brand logo patent? Her logo looks exactly like yours. Get the lawsuit papers coming!! Yes, I’m mad as hell at their corruption and using the presidency and the people’s house to profit on my dime!”

Others asked why anyone would pay $130 for a sweatshirt with Kai Trump’s initials on them.

“Your family is out of touch with reality. 130.00 for a (expletive) sweatshirt. Child sit down…. Another Trump grift,” one person wrote, while another said: “This merch is almost as low effort as Trump Steaks.”
