Dodgers Reach Familiar October Destination with Second Straight Pennant

October 18, 2025 by Last Word On Baseball

The Los Angeles Dodgers have won the National League pennant, completing the four-game sweep over the Milwaukee Brewers. They will head to their second consecutive World Series—and their third in the last six seasons. Once again, the Dodgers displayed the kind of postseason dominance that has defined their recent era, combining elite starting pitching, timely hitting, and near-perfect execution in all phases of the game.

Dodgers Win Second Straight NL Pennant with Sweep of Brewers

Backed by one of the best rotations in baseball, the Dodgers’ pitching staff was nearly untouchable throughout the series, holding Milwaukee to just four total runs across four games. Every starter executed with precision, keeping the Brewers’ typically scrappy and patient lineup off-balance. The bullpen, which has been a question mark, slammed the door in each contest, underscoring the complete nature of Los Angeles’ performance, even with the shakiness of Game One.
Tonight’s game belonged to their two-way superstar, Shohei Ohtani, who once again showed why he’s worth every penny of his record-setting contract. On the mound, Ohtani was brilliant—allowing just two hits over six plus dominant innings while striking out 10. His execution of his splitter tonight was perfect, making for the perfect swing-and-miss pitch.

But Ohtani wasn’t done there. Offensively, he provided the exclamation point to the Dodgers’ sweep with three towering home runs—one to lead off the game against Jose Quintana, another in the fourth inning off reliever Chad Patrick, and his third blast of the day off reliever Trevor Megill. Both blasts electrified the home crowd and cemented Ohtani’s place as the centerpiece of this Dodgers dynasty in the making.

The Last Word

As Los Angeles now turns its attention to the World Series, the team’s confidence is sky-high as they await an opponent pending the result of the AL Championship Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners, with Seattle holding a 3-2 series lead going back to Toronto for Game Six. With Ohtani performing at an MVP level on both sides of the ball and the pitching staff firing on all cylinders, the Dodgers look poised to chase yet another championship—and perhaps define the modern era of baseball dominance.
