Once again, the Los Angeles Dodgers are dealing with the injury bug. They made a flurry of roster moves ahead of the series opener at the Milwaukee Brewers. Chief among them, the Dodgers placed Kiké Hernández on the injured list with elbow inflammation and recalled outfielder James Outman from Triple-A Oklahoma City. To make room for Outman on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers have designated pitcher CJ Alexander for assignment.

Dodgers Place Kiké Hernández on Injured List
It has been a struggle offensively for the Dodgers’ super-utility man. The inflammation of his non-throwing shoulder may be a possible explanation. Hernández, who is known for his October exploits, is hitting for a batting average of .195 and eight home runs. The career .240 hitter usually saves his best for October. However, it seems that he has struggled through most of the 2025 season. Manager Dave Roberts said that the elbow problem came as a result of an awkward slide in late May. It “came to a head on Saturday.” The hope is that a cortisone shot and rest will help it heal.
The Dodgers recalled OF James Outman, selected the contract of RHP Julian Fernández, optioned LHP Justin Wrobleski and placed IF/OF Kiké Hernández on the injured list with left elbow inflammation. In order to make room for Fernández on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated IF…

Another Opportunity for Outman
James Outman has been tearing it up down on the farm. He was hitting .289 with 20 home runs and 74 runs batted in. Furthermore, he has clubbed these homers in back-to-back games several times this season. It will be interesting to see if he can translate that success to the major-league level, where he has yet to maintain sustained offensive production since he burst on the scene as a rookie. For what it’s worth, he has followed in the footsteps of Max Muncy and Kiké Hernández and wears glasses. However, he has yet to don them for a game. He is playing center field tonight.
Other Things to Watch
Tommy Edman is dealing with a fractured toe, and Teoscar Hernández is banged up as well. They have struggled to stay healthy in 2025. However, both are available off the bench, if necessary. More than ever, it’s necessary for the Dodgers to get healthy. So far, it hasn’t happened.
