Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw is set to make his season debut on Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels, according to David Vassegh of Sportsnet LA. Manager Dave Roberts made the announcement prior to the game against the Athletics at Dodger Stadium. Kershaw has been on the 60-day Injured list since the beginning of the 2025 campaign, after signing a one-year deal in spring training.

Clayton Kershaw Returns for Dodgers This Saturday
Is He Finally Healthy?
Kershaw has been recovering from multiple surgeries on his knee and big toe. The future Hall of Famer has been sidelined since last September. He has yet to make it through a season without a significant injury since 2019. It was questionable whether he would attempt a return after major shoulder surgery in the 2024 offseason.
Final Tuneups
The veteran left-hander has been making his rehab appearances primarily at Triple-A Oklahoma City. In his last minor league start, Kershaw went four innings on 57 pitches, 35 of which were strikes. He gave up two earned runs on two hits, walked two, and struck out two. His fastball didn’t reach 90 miles per hour but the movement of his pitches in and out of the strike zone was effective. The batters were unable to make consistent hard contact.
A Welcome Reinforcement
Kershaw’s return couldn’t come at a better time for the Dodgers. Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell, both potential aces, are both on the IL with no timetable for return. However, Glasnow is cleared to begin throwing this week. Los Angeles currently has 13 pitchers on the sidelines. Despite their efforts to bolster the rotation, injuries remain a reality.
The return of the three-time Cy Young Award Winner gives the left-hander a chance to achieve some milestones in an already stellar career. Kershaw is just 32 strikeouts away from 3,000. Kershaw’s return will give a boost to the franchise for whom he’s already done so much. From now on, each Kershaw Day will mean a little more.
