Kendrick Lamar and Drake have made disses popular again, so it’s time for my turn, with our club
Over the last few weeks, rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar (with others getting involved at random) have been battling for the right to be the King of Rap.
Now, I will not be going into detail about the things that they have said on these songs, as those things have no place on South Side Sox, but in my mind, what Lamar said to Drake on Euphoria had some lines that could relate to the team that we occasionally hate.
I hate the way that you walk
Now this doesn’t work too well, considering the fact that the White Sox are second-to-last in baseball in walks per game, at 2.47. Luckily for them, they’re slightly better than average in strikeouts per game, at a rate of 8.07.
The way you talk
Well now, let’s get into it! Pretty much every time the White Sox have someone from the front office at a podium, I want to throw a tomato. I have spoken at length about how much I hate this team’s lies, how they speak as if we’re idiots who don’t understand why things happen. And from the conversations that Jerry Reinsdorf has had with the Illinois Senate, they don’t like the way that this team talks, either, as plans for a new stadium have been seemingly laughed at by everyone.
The way that you dress
OK, we can be honest here: The White Sox have some of the best jerseys in baseball. Even the overused 1983s are better than a lot of teams’ regular jerseys. Hell, they even have plenty in the vault that could be used, such as one of my favorites, from the Dick Allen era:
Now, I won’t say that I am all-knowing when it comes to everything that the White Sox community thinks … hell, I barely exist on White Sox Twitter nowadays. But it’s not just me; I’m saying what the culture’s feeling.
