Here is a look — @soxnerd style — at legendary White Sox pitcher Wilbur Wood, who passed away Saturday:
*Sox Team of the 20th Century member used his tantalizing knuckleball to go 163-148 with a 3.18 ERA, 24 shutouts and 57 saves for the Sox from 1967 to 1978
*Lefty posted four consecutive 20-win seasons between 1971 and 1974
*Led the A.L. in appearances from 1968 to 1970 and in starts from 1972 to 1975
*Three-time All-Star led the American League with 24 victories for the White Sox in 1972 and 1973
*Set the Major League record with 88 appearances for the 1968 White Sox (since broken but a club record still stands)
*Finished in the top five in the A.L.’s Cy Young voting in each year between 1971 and 1974
*Named Relief Pitcher of the Year in 1968 and Pitcher of the Year in 1972 by The Sporting News
