Several roads will be closed to traffic for several days in the coming weeks in St. Charles as the city does street improvement work, according to a news release from the city.
The upcoming closures include Williams Avenue from Midway Avenue to Ronzheimer Avenue beginning on July 14, which is set to be closed to all traffic for about five days; Lucylle Avenue from Jewel Avenue to Pleasant Avenue and from Pleasant Avenue to Moore Avenue beginning July 16, set to last for four days; and North Third Avenue and Johnor Avenue from North Fifth Avenue to Marion Avenue set to close on July 21 and remain closed for 10 days.
Cyclists and pedestrians will continue to have access to the Fox River Trail during that time, the release said. The city noted that residents of the streets have been contacted about the road closures.
The closures are part of the city’s 2025 Street Rehabilitation Project, which is aiming to improve 13.8 miles of roadways throughout St. Charles, according to the city’s press release. Much of the work is resurfacing and will create only minimal traffic impacts, but streets that require reconstruction — pavement milling, road base removal, new stone, fresh oil and new asphalt — will result in temporary closures, officials said.
The city noted that start dates for the road closures could change depending on the weather.
