A roadway worker was seriously injured Thursday night when he was thrown from his vehicle after a crash along a Long Grove area street, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said.
The injured man was working with a crew on Old McHenry Road near Prairie Wind Road at around 9:15 p.m., and the crew had an additional vehicle parked there with its yellow flashing lights activated.
A man driving a Ford F350 pickup truck north on Old McHenry Road struck the vehicle with the flashing lights, pushing it into the other work truck, where the injured man was standing in the truck’s bed. He was thrown from the truck and badly injured, police said.
The pickup driver, a 38-year-old Hawthorn Woods man, was not injured.
Police said the investigation is continuing and there may be charges filed later.
