Police said a North Chicago man was killed over the weekend when he was struck by gunfire fired from outside into his home.
The Lake County Major Crime Task Force and the North Chicago police are investigating the death of the 19-year-old man. The victim’s name had yet to be released on Tuesday.
North Chicago police were alerted at around 1:35 a.m. Saturday to the shooting in the 2200 block of Kemble Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found the victim inside, struck by apparent gunfire, Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli said. The shooter left before police arrived, and authorities said a number of bullets hit the exterior of the house.
North Chicago Police and the task force are investigating, Covelli said. Attempts to get additional information from North Chicago police were unsuccessful.
