Iowa Cubs
The Iowa Cubs were trampled by the Buffalo Bisons (Blue Jays), 8-1.
It was a rough start for Jordan Wicks, who took the loss after surrendering seven runs on nine hits over 2.2 innings. Two of those nine hits were three-run home runs. Wicks struck out one and walked one.
Iowa’s only run came on an eighth-inning home run by second baseman Chase Strumpf, his fourth this year. Strumpf was 2 for 3 with a double and the homer.
DH Moisés Ballesteros extended his hitting streak to 17 games with a single in the eighth inning. He was 1 for 4.
Third baseman Matt Shaw was 1 for 3 with a walk.

Knoxville Smokies
The Knoxville Smokies were trashed by the Rocket City Trash Pandas (Angels), 5-3.
Sam Armstrong started and got a tough loss after allowing just two runs on four hits over six innings. Armstrong struck out four and walked no one.
Knoxville was trailing 5-0 going into the bottom of the ninth, but a rally fell short when Hayden Cantrelle flied out as the potential tying run. Cantrelle went 1 for 4.
Third baseman BJ Murray Jr. was 2 for 4 and scored one run.
Left fielder Jordan Nwogu singled home Murray in the ninth for the second run. Nwogu was 1 for 3 with a walk and he scored once.
South Bend Cubs
The South Bend Cubs were grilled by the Cedar Rapids Kernels (Twins), 8-7.
Chase Watkins threw the first two innings and gave up one run on one hit and one walk over two innings. Watkins struck out two.
Jaxon Wiggins came on next in a tandem start. Wiggins surrendered four runs, two earned, on two hits and three walks over three innings. He struck out two.
Carlo Reyes gave up three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and got the loss. He gave up three hits (including a solo home run) and walked one and struck out one in one inning of work. Reyes did not strike anyone out.
Right fielder Ivan Brethowr hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, his third of the season. Brethowr went 2 for 4 with a walk and two stolen bases. He scored three times.
Two batters later, second baseman Jefferson Rojas hit a two-run home run, his second. Rojas was 2 for 3 with four total runs batted in.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans filleted the Carolina Mudcats (Brewers), 9-6 in ten innings.
Great start tonight for Nazier Mulé, who gave up just one run on three hits over five innings. Mulé walked two, hit one batter and struck out three.
Jackson Kirkpatrick came on to get the save in the ninth inning with the Birds holding a 6-4 lead. The Mudcats pushed two runners across the plate to force extra innings. Kirkpatrick started the tenth inning after the Pelicans scored three runs in the top of the ninth, but couldn’t finish out the game. He still got a blown save and a win. Kirkpatrick’s final line was two runs on three hits and a walk over 1.2 innings. He struck out three.
Right-hander Matthew Peters was summoned from the pen with runners on the corners and two outs in the tenth. He threw one pitch and got a infield pop up to collect his first professional save.
First baseman Cameron Sisneros had a two-run single in the top of the tenth to make the score 9-6. Sisneros was the star of the game, going 4 for 5 with two doubles and three total RBI. He also walked once.
Right fielder Leonel Espinoza was 2 for 4 with a stolen base, a walk and two runs scored. He was also hit by a pitch.
Center fielder Miguel Olivo was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. He scored on Sinseros’ single in the tenth.
DH Matt Halbach hit a two-run double in the third inning to give Myrtle Beach an early lead. Halbach went 2 for 4 with the double and a walk. He had three total RBI and scored twice.
Left fielder Anderson Suriel was 2 for 5 with a double.
