Iowa Cubs
The Iowa Cubs stopped the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals), 9-5.
Ben Brown gave up a solo home run to Dairon Blanco in the fourth inning, but kept Omaha in check otherwise. Brown’s final line was one run on two hits over four innings. Brown walked one but did not strike anyone out.
Luke Little pitched the fourth inning and got the win because Brown didn’t go five innings. Little allowed one run—unearned—on two hits. He struck out two and walked no one.
Shortstop Dixon Machado hit a two-run home run in the third inning, his third on the year. Machado went 1 for 4 with a walk and a stolen base.
Left fielder Greg Allen homered with a man on in the eighth inning, also his third on the season. Allen went 1 for 5 with two steals.
Right fielder Owen Caissie was 3 for 5 with a double and a walk. Caissie scored twice.
DH Moisés Ballesteros went 3 for 6 and scored once.
Third baseman Jonathon Long was 2 for 6. He scored one run and drove in one.
Center fielder Kevin Alcántara was 1 for 3 with an RBI double and two walks. He scored one run.
Everyone in the Iowa lineup had at least one hit.

Knoxville Smokies
The Knoxville Smokies threw out the Rocket City Trash Pandas (Angels), 11-3.
Starter Antonio Santos gave up a solo home run in the second inning and pretty much nothing else. Santos got the win after allowing just the one run on the one hit over five inings. He struck out six, walked two and hit one batter.
Jaylen Palmer hit his seventh home run with a man on in the second inning. Palmer went 2 for 5.
Shortstop Reivaj Garcia was 3 for 5. He scored on run and drove home two.
First baseman BJ Murray Jr. went 3 for 4 with a walk. Murray also had two RBI and scored one run.
Left fielder Jordan Nwogu was 2 for 4 with a walk and two runs scored. Nwogu stole two bases.
DH Jake Opitz was 2 for 4 with two runs batted in. He scored one run.

South Bend Cubs
The South Bend Cubs fired the Peoria Chiefs (Cardinals), 5-3.
Connor Schultz started and allowed three runs on four hits. The three runs came on two home runs. Schultz struck out two and walked no one.
The South Bend bullpen allowed no runs and just one hit over the final five innings. Kenten Egbert relieved Schultz, pitched the next two innings and got the win. Egbert allowed one hit and one walk. He did not strike anyone out.
Vince Reilly and Luis Rujano both pitched a scoreless inning before Johzan Oquendo retired the side in order in the top of the ninth for the save. Oquendo struck out one.
Left fielder Edgar Alvarez connected for his fourth home run with the bases empty in the sixth inning. Alvarez went 1 for 4.
Shortstop Jefferson Rojas doubled twice in a 2 for 4 game. He drove in two runs and scored one time.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were tarred and de-feathered by the Charleston RiverDogs (Royals), 7-1.
Nazier Mulé was very good over the first two innings. Then came the third inning where he gave up five runs and only got one out. Mulé’s final line was five runs on three hits over 2.1 innings. One of the five runs was unearned. Mulé walked four and struck out four. He had two wild pitches in the third inning as well.
First baseman Owen Ayers singled home Leonel Espinoza in the bottom of the ninth for the Birds only run. Ayers was 1 for 4 and Espinoza was 1 for 4 with a double.
The Pelicans had just four hits tonight.
