A Geneva man was arrested on Aug. 27 and charged with 16 felony counts of possessing and reproducing child pornography, according to a news release from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
Prosecutors allege that, between May 9 and Aug. 27, Karl P. Bibler, 27, of the 1500 block of West State Street, possessed and reproduced multiple digital videos containing child sexual abuse material, according to the news release.
Bibler is being charged with eight counts of possessing child pornography and eight counts of reproducing child pornography involving a victim under 13, officials said.
The investigation was conducted by the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit, a task force created by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and Kane County Sheriff’s Office in 2022, the release said.
A pretrial detention hearing was held on Aug. 29, during which the state argued for Bibler’s detention, the release said. However, the court ordered Bibler to be released under special conditions and pretrial supervision, according to Kane County court records.
Bibler’s next court date is set for Oct. 9.
