It’s two steps forward, one step back for the Los Angeles Dodgers on the injury front, as they have placed right-handed reliever Michael Kopech on the injured list with knee inflammation, the team announced Tuesday. Will Klein has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Precautionary Measure
Kopech has received an injection in the knee, but doesn’t seem overly concerned about it. He said he didn’t want to “overcompensate with the drive leg” and have it lead to arm issues. He will not throw for a few days. This is the second time Kopech has visited the IL this year. He started the season on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury. He has made eight appearances this season and thrown seven scoreless innings with eight strikeouts.
The Dodgers recalled RHP Will Klein and placed RHP Michael Kopech on the injured list with right knee inflammation, retroactive to June 28.

Nearly Perfect
Since being acquired from the Chicago White Sox at the trade deadline last year, the fireballer has been nearly unhittable. Kopech’s ERA is a minuscule 0.87. He was one of the most trusted relievers out of the Dodgers’ bullpen in high-leverage situations last year.
Innings Eater
Will Klein has covered innings for the Dodgers for an arm-weary bullpen. The right-hander came over from a trade with the Seattle Mariners for fellow pitcher Joe Jacques. He has tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings in two appearances for the Dodgers in what was largely a mop-up role. Prior to Seattle, Klein spent time in the Athletics organization.
In Other News
Blake Treinen and Blake Snell will face hitters tomorrow for the first time since they have been on the IL, according to manager Dave Roberts. This is the first announced progress for both since they have been sidelined. The Dodgers hope that all goes well and both highly coveted arms could return sometime after the All-Star Break. It would be a major boost to the ball club as they prepare for the stretch run.
Apparently, for the Dodgers, staying healthy is harder than it looks.
