CHICAGO — The Cubs announced its 2025 coaching staff Monday under the helm of second-year manager Craig Counsell.
There are four new additions to his staff, including replacements for third base coach Willie Harris and first base coach Mike Napoli.
Jose Javier will be the first base coach and Quentin Berry will be the third base coach.
Javier, 32, spent 2024 as a defensive coach for the New York Yankee’s Triple-A affiliate, Scranton-Wilkes Barre. The former Yankees’ farm spent eight seasons coaching in New York’s minor league system.
Berry, 40, played for the Cubs briefly in 2015 and previously was the first base coach for the Brewers from 2021 through this season.
The Cubs are moving Mark Strittmatter from major league field coordinator to bullpen coach.
The two other new additions are Casey Jacobson as the assistant pitching coach and A.J. Lewis as a staff assistant.
After beginning their offseason by signing Matthew Boyd and some other smaller moves, the hot stove pick up this week in Dallas during the Winter Meetings.
