Cub Tracks’ who are these guys?

MLB: Colorado Rockies at Chicago Cubs

The #1 source for #Cubs, #MLB, and #MiLB news and notes. The Cubs rode another standout pitching performance to the sweep Wednesday night. The gloves were out.

The going is weird. Cub Tracks™ turned pro a long time ago. Cub Tracks™. Where the great ones run away.

It’s not hard for me to remember how the ballpark was before the video boards, Paul, because they weren’t there the last time I was at the ballpark (a quarter of a century ago). I’m pretty sure I’d hate the neighborhood now, as I loathe creeping corporatism, but you don’t care what I think about such things. You’re not alone, but I’m stubborn and insist on saying my piece, regardless.

Anyway, the Cubs were trying to sweep the hapless Colorado team. They sent veteran Matthew Boyd, 4-2 on the season, to the hill opposite Tanner Gordon (1-1), who hasn’t had much of a career so far.

Gordon was just fine, limiting the Cubs to two runs, one on a Seiya Suzuki sizzler, one on a PCA long drive. Boyd was just a touch better. The Rockies scored a single tally and the Cubs took a one-run lead into the late innings, where the bullpen held serve. Don’t look now, but the pen has been nails.

How sweep it is.

Today’s a day off. I never did get the hang of Thursdays, so that’s fine by me. Friday, the Cubs and Reds commence hostilities once again.
