The #1 source for #Cubs, #MLB, and #MiLB news and notes. Ryne Sandberg has moved on, Jed Hoyer is staying, and the Cubs are in second place.
The going is weird. Cub Tracks™ turned pro a long time ago. Cub Tracks™. Where the great ones run AWAY..
Any MLB team can beat you. The good teams WILL beat you.
R. I. P. Ryno. You were the GOAT to a lot of us.
Jed Hoyer was extended Monday. I’m in the meh or no camp but I have no influence one way or the other. I’m assuming this means business as usual, the old ‘intelligent spending’ routine. Make me be wrong, Cubs.
Meanwhile, the Cubs started a huge series in the city that beer made famous against their fellow first-place squad, the Brewers, at Miller Park American Family Field. A marquee pitching matchup featured All-Star Matthew Boyd against ‘All-Star’ Jacob Misiorowski in a duel made for prime time.
The Cubs rode some Cubbie occurrences to a 3-0 lead and made Misiorowski throw 40 pitches, ensuring that he wouldn’t be going deep into the game [VIDEO][VIDEO], or so they thought. But Boyd was uncharacteristically wild and the Brewers rallied to take the lead in the third.
They didn’t stop there. But for me the actual game was overshadowed by Ryne Sandberg’s passing. Cubs are back in second but can pull even again today. Kyle Tucker did drive in one more run [VIDEO], but that was all they wrote.
