American Football Betting: NFL Divisional Round Preview

January 20, 2022 by The Sports Fan Journal

Super Wildcard Weekend proved to be another thrilling installment of the NFL playoffs last weekend. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, and the Kansas City Chiefs all enjoyed comprehensive victories to secure their place in the divisional. Whereas the San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals required nervier finishes to secure their Super Bowl dreams stay alive.

We’re going to take you through the best predictions you back do with Fanduel ahead of the divisional Round Wildcard Weekend.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Tennessee Titans

The Cincinnati Bengals 30+ year wait for a playoff win finally ended when they beat the Las Vegas Raiders in the Jungle last weekend. Joe Burrow racked up 244 passing yards and two touchdowns as they raced into a seven-point lead in the fourth quarter.

The Raiders had a late chance to level the game, but a Germaine Pratt interception ended any chance of Derek Carr earning his first career postseason win.

The Bengals will have a harder opponent this weekend as they visit the one-seed Tennessee Titans. The Titans are coming off a bye week due to their one-seed status, and they may welcome back running back Derrick Henry – he changes this football team. King Henry finished ninth in rushing yards during the NFL this season and he hasn’t played since week 8.

If Henry returns, we fancy the Tennessee Titans as -180 favorites. However, if Henry doesn’t feature, we would back the Bengals road win at +130.

San Francisco 49ers @ Green Bay Packers

For the second matchup of the divisional round, we have a rematch of the NFC Championship game from two years ago. The 49ers ran all over the Packers on that occasion and they’ll be hoping to do the same this weekend.

If this happens again, we expect Deebo Samuel to be the reason why. He has 1405 receiving yards during this season, alongside 365 rushing yards. He is the key to this 49ers offense. We would take him as an anytime touchdown scorer with Fanduel at -105.

As for the Green Bay Packers, they enjoyed a week off as the NFC first seed. They stormed to the top of the NFC with a 13-4 record, with Aaron Rodgers playing at an MVP level. He has 37 touchdowns to four interceptions on the season, but he has been plagued by a lingering toe injury.

There’s a definite chance that the 49ers could pull off the road upset here. Aaron Rodgers is 0-3 against the 9ers in the postseason and if they can control the clock via the run, they could win the game. They are +200 – a good price – but the favorites Green Bay’s home field advantage gives them the edge. The Packers are 8-0 on the season in the Frozen Tundra and at -245 we think this is the safer bet.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Los Angeles Rams

The third matchup of the divisional round is a rematch from earlier in the season. The Los Angeles Rams picked up the win in the last game, but both teams are very different outfits now.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers breezed into the divisional round with a 31-15 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, and the defense was hosting a shutout victory until the final quarter. Whilst the defense impressed, Mike Evans of the Bucs offense shined in the absence of Antonio Brown and Chris Godwin with over 100+ receiving yards.

The Los Angeles Rams, on the other hand, had offensive players making plays all over the field. Cam Akers returned from a torn Achilles to have 95 yards from scrimmage, whilst Odell Beckham Jr secured a touchdown catch. Beckham Jr also played a hand in the passing game as he threw a 40-yard dime to Cam Akers in the second quarter.

This game is a high-powered offensive showdown. We would back Tom Brady to have over 286.5 passing yards at -114, but we’re going to say take the upset on the result. The Rams are on a roll and we think they can win at +124.

Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs

From one high-powered offensive matchup to another. The Buffalo Bills vs the Kansas City provides the Josh Allen against Patrick Mahomes matchup we have wanted since their AFC Championship game last season.

Firstly, Josh Allen put on a show in the Bills’ demolition of the New England Patriots. The Wyoming wonder had five touchdown passes against Bill Belichick, and he had more passing touchdowns than incompletions (5 TD – 4 incompletions).

Whatever Josh Allen did, Mahomes tried to do better. The former NFL MVP secured five touchdowns for the Chiefs in under 12 minutes against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Super Wildcard Weekend.

Due to this offensive showdown, we would take the -110 odds on over 54.5 points in the game with Fanduel. However, we are struggling to pick a winner. The Bills won the matchup earlier in the season, but the Chiefs were victorious in last year’s AFC championship game, so it is a pick’em on our end. The Bills to win is +108 and the Chiefs are -126.
