NCC theater department presenting ‘Everybody Thrashing’
North Central College’s Department of Theatre will open its spring season with “Everybody Thrashing,” a new play inspired by true events in 1518 Strasbourg during which hundreds of people danced frantically in the streets for weeks.
The production will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 19-22, and at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 21-22, at the Madden Theatre, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville.
Co-developed and co-directed by Jeremy Ohringer and Amelia Hefferon, original music was written by Ethan Korvne and Emily Hayman, and assistant directed by Aidan McGuire, a senior directing and dramaturgy major.
Cast members include Isabella Creech, Josette Falzone, Marcus Fawer, Marina Jòkanović, Noora Kassem, Andrew Rascop, Hope Shawley and Sophie Thill.
“Everybody Thrashing” explores a historical moment of group hysteria and how it connects with contemporary moments of group fervor, madness and exaltation, a college news release said. It incorporates music, original text and Medieval writings.
Tickets are $14 and can be purchased at www.northcentralcollege.edu/show.
