Bears May Entertain Blockbuster Trade After Playoff Heartbreaker

January 20, 2026 by Last Word On Pro Football

After a heartbreaking field goal loss to the Los Angeles Rams, the Chicago Bears could address the wide receiver concerns this upcoming offseason and trade DJ Moore. According to a report, following effort issues, the Bears may entertain the idea of trading Moore, as he hasn’t done enough to be the long-term weapon for Caleb Williams’ offense. Despite the slow effort that almost felt like it cost the Bears the game, which led to Williams throwing an interception, the quarterback defended him on his behalf. However, some fans are unhappy regarding the receiver’s efforts, which could lead to more questions than answers about his future during the offseason.

Bears May Entertain Blockbuster DJ Moore Trade After Playoff Heartbreaker

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Bears move on from Moore. It wasn’t the first time that the receiver had issues during his tenure with the Bears. Originally selected in the first-round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the former Carolina Panther was traded to the Bears in hopes of establishing himself as a reliable pass-catcher. Unfortunately for him, Moore is coming off his worst campaign statistically, hauling in his worst record of 682 receiving yards. Despite the receiver having four years left on his deal, it makes sense for the Bears to prioritize their future on Luther Burden III and Rome Odunze.

They have done more with these receivers than Moore. The former Panther was already the subject of trade rumors last offseason, ever since Williams stepped in as the future franchise quarterback. Moore isn’t going to be the most prominent trade candidate given his production, but he should garner enough attention from these three teams during the offseason.

Next Possible Fits

Los Angeles Chargers

After firing offensive coordinator Greg Roman, the Los Angeles Chargers have made life easier for Justin Herbert to rebuild. Despite drafting KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris, the Chargers must rebuild the receiver unit to help Ladd McConkey in those deep-ball moments. While Keenan Allen had his chance to return and shine, he might bolt elsewhere for a Super Bowl in 2026 or retire. This means the Chargers must find an adequate receiver to help Herbert thrive again in the pocket.

It’s been a brutal 2025 season for Herbert as he faced multiple injuries, which have been costly for the Chargers in the postseason. They need to rebuild the offensive line, but trading for DJ Moore should add some excitement to the receiving room to light up again.

Kansas City Chiefs

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs could panic once again as Rashee Rice is expected to be suspended. After serving a lengthy suspension in 2025, the Chiefs can’t afford to lean on an old Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy to help Patrick Mahomes. While Mahomes is healing up from his season-ending injury, Kansas City must prioritize upgrading the arsenal for the offense. Brown is likely leaving for a new contract elsewhere, which should set up for the Chiefs to trade for a massive receiver like Moore if they want him and if he becomes available.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills shocked the league after firing head coach Sean McDermott. A lot of things can change in this Bills offense, including pass-catchers in this unit. With Keon Coleman expected to be traded, the Bills should make a splash for Moore to bring in that true stardom they’ve been missing since they let go of Stefon Diggs. Khalil Shakir and Tyrell Shavers are decent, but the star power from Moore might get Josh Allen and this offense back in the AFC Championship Game in 2027.
