The White Sox have signed right-handed pitcher Michael Gemma to a minor league deal, per a post from Tread Athletics. The move has not yet been officially announced, but Gemma will likely be assigned to the ACL team once it is.

Gemma, who spent all four seasons at Northeastern University, first emerged as a standout for Catholic Memorial High School in Milton, Massachusetts. He earned Perfect Game Preseason All-American honors in 2020 while also being named a Catholic Conference All-Star and Catholic Conference MVP the season prior. He since developed into a reliable arm for the Huskies, appearing as both a starter and reliever across his collegiate career.
During his latest campaign in 2024 as a senior, Gemma started 11 of 14 games for Northeastern, posting a 4-0 record with a 4.76 ERA, 40 strikeouts, and 22 walks. Standing at 6-foot-5, he finished all four years with a 3.64 ERA, 65 strikeouts, and 51 walks across 64.1 innings thrown.
In a video posted to X, Tread Athletics labeled Gemma as âarguably the best arm to throw on Day 3â of their pro day for Major League scouts. He displayed a four-seam fastball that touched 94.5 mph during the showcase alongside a whiff-inducing mid-to-upper 80s slider, a sinker in the low 90s, and sweeper in the low 80s.
Gemma is one of two pitchers signed from the Tread Athletics pro day, joining righty Anthony Patterson III.
