Snow showers and patchy blowing snow is expected to continue in the Chicagoland area Wednesday as temperatures fall into the high teens in the night hours, weather officials said.
Current morning conditions at O’Hare International Airport are light snow at 38 degrees with a wind chill of 3 degrees. Farther south at Midway Airport, conditions are overcast at 39 degrees with a wind chill of 4 degrees.
Wednesday night, officials expect scattered flurries and blustery conditions with temperatures falling in the high teens.
A hazardous weather outlook was given for portions of north central, northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana with an elevated risk in Porter County, Indiana. Wind-driven accumulating lake-effect snow is expected to reduce visibility on the roadways Wednesday through Thursday morning across northwest Indiana.
In other places a period of gusty snow showers Wednesday morning may sharply reduce visibility and accumulations of an inch of snow in parts of northeast Illinois, officials said.
Dangerous travel conditions are expected.
