The Los Angeles Chargers suffered a serious injury in Week 9’s game against the Tennessee Titans, as star tackle Joe Alt suffered a leg injury in a collision and had to be carted off. As of this posting, we do not know the severity of the injury, but the cart does not bode well for his short-term future.

Joe Alt Injury Update: Chargers OT Carted Off With Leg Injury
Joe Alt has been one of the NFL’s best tackles ever since he entered the league. Selected with the fifth-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Notre Dame product immediately earned the starting right tackle job as a rookie. Starting and appearing in 16 games, the rookie finished his inaugural season with a 75.9 PFF grade, the 24th-best mark out of 81 eligible players. Paired with left tackle Rashawn Slater, the Chargers entered the 2025 offseason with arguably the game’s best tackle duo.
Unfortunately, injuries killed the Chargers chances at an elite offensive line. Slater suffered a season-ending injury in the offseason, and Joe Alt himself missed a few games earlier in the season. With free agent guard Mekhi Becton also battling injury and struggling when on the field, Los Angeles has endured one of the league’s weaker offensive lines.
While we don’t know the severity of the injury, we know that Joe Alt is one of the game’s best tackles when healthy. Prior to Week 9’s showdown with the Titans, Alt recorded an impressive 78.8 PFF grade, the ninth-best mark in the league. Hopefully, he can return to the field sooner rather than later and stabilize this offensive line.
