Two people have been charged with multiple felony counts after Aurora Police Special Operations Group investigators executed two search warrants that led to the recovery of firearms, narcotics and cash, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.
At around 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 17, investigators served a search warrant at a home on the 600 block of West Galena Boulevard on Aurora’s West Side, the release said. There, officers said they found 3.4 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, drug packaging, a Springfield Armory 9mm handgun, a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun, an extended magazine and numerous rounds of ammunition, according to the release.
The investigators took Osbaldo Moreno-Izeta, 32, of Aurora, into custody in connection with the case, the release said. He has been charged with armed violence, the manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, three counts of a felon in possession of a weapon, two counts of possessing a firearm without a valid Firearm Owners Identification, or FOID, card and possession of a controlled substance. All the charges are felonies, officials said.
A week earlier, on Sept. 10, at around 7:47 p.m., Special Operations Group investigators executed another search warrant on the 100 block of Warren Avenue in Aurora, the release said. Investigators said they uncovered two digital scales, $5,660 in cash, 7.3 grams of crack cocaine and a stolen Arex Slovenia Delta 9mm pistol with a green laser, according to the release.
Kevin A. Thomas-Cox, 30, of Aurora, was taken into custody and charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card, all felonies, per the news release.
