It sounds like a rough day for the Chicago Bears‘ offense today at training camp, so you can take that however you want.
Some will panic, some will brush it off as it’s still install in shells and shorts, and some will get fired up because a struggling offense means Dennis Allen’s defense is balling!
No new injury updates today from the team.
Left tackle Braxton Jones had the day off as part of his being eased back into action, and it was rookie Ozzy Trapilo’s turn for some first-team action.
Nickelback Kyler Gordon was lined up at safety for at least a play, and oft-injured offensive lineman Ryan Bates continued to be a participant. If Bates can stay healthy, that’s a big boost for the o-line depth.
I shared a post from J.J. Watt yesterday about tracking camp stats and production is pointless because we don’t know what the team is doing on a play-by-play basis. This Tweet by Courtney Cronin hammers that point home.
During an early 11-on-11 period, DE Montez Sweat got pressure on Caleb Williams on back-to-back plays. That was by design, according to OC Declan Doyle, to see how Williams would handle those situations.

During an early 11-on-11 period, DE Montez Sweat got pressure on Caleb Williams on back-to-back plays. That was by design, according to OC Declan Doyle, to see how Williams would handle those situations.
Doyle: “That’s very intentional. That’s trying to get our defensive pressures in against some of the stuff that we’re going to do offensively. We have contingency plans for what they are going to bring at us, so the quarterback operating getting the offense on the same page as far as checking plays, checking protections, things like that, but that’s all a part of the scripted practice, is trying to get the defense right with their pressure patterns and the way they’re going to play coverage on the back end and then it’s getting our quarterbacks used to whether we’re throwing the ball or up front handling the movement with those run schemes.”
Now on to some Tweets!
First two 11 on 11 sequences for first team offense not very good.
Montez Sweat was in the backfield twice, once untouched as there was a breakdown on the line. Williams had to throw it away both times.
Two completions to Zaccheaus.

Undrafted rookie wide receiver J.P. Richardson has been an early standout this first week of training camp. Keep an eye on him as the Bears work into the preseason.

Best play of last 11 on 11 drill was a Caleb Williams completion to Rome Odunze down right sideline. Looked like Terell Smith in coverage.#Bears

About half an hour of practice remains. Some notes so far on a heavy redzone emphasis day:
-Not present: Braxton Jones, Frazier (personal), Burden (hamstring), Turner (ankle)
-Montez Sweat was harassing Caleb Williams off the right edge couple times in 11/11. Would imagine a…— Courtney Cronin (@CourtneyRCronin) July 25, 2025
Been an ugly day for first team in drills.
Last two plays down in RZ have been a few bright spots with TDs though for Caleb Williams. One to Rome Odunze and another to Zaccheaus. #Bears

11 on 11s far side of the field. 1st team.

Mixed bag for the first team offense on day three of training camp. After a bad 7-on-7 red zone period where Caleb Williams threw two picks, he regrouped in 11-on-11 red zone and threw two TDs. Williams led offense to a 49-yard field goal attempt during two-minute drill.

Declan Doyle said of Caleb Williams: “(Pre-snap command) is the biggest improvement I’ve seen. It’s all a progression. We’ve got to continue to get better post-snap and all those things with his vision and where the ball needs to go.”
