NHL Rumour: Teams Calling On Blackhawks Forward Have Answer

July 31, 2022 by Last Word On Hockey

Patrick Kane Trade

Patrick Kane has been in the headlines recently, as trade talks have emerged. All this has started as the Chicago Blackhawks appear to be in a massive fire sale. This means they’re likely starting the tank for Connor Bedard.

Teams may have to wait for a little bit for an answer. However, the teams calling on the three time Stanley Cup champion have been told a very interesting answer.

As the title states, teams calling on Patrick Kane are being told no. However, it’s more of a “not right now.” The Blackhawks appear to be hesitant on trading the 33-year-old forward who has spent his entire career in Chicago.

Kane has had a Hall of Fame career with Chicago. Three Stanley Cups, and 1,180 points in 1,170 games. This, a recent resurgence in performance, has shot him back into the NHL’s spotlight.

Although with his teammate Jonathan Toews was sidelined with health issues, a lot of questions have been swirling around about their future in Chicago.

Analysis

This is a smart play by the Blackhawks to hold out on trading Kane. For now, nobody knows how the Blackhawks’ season will play out. Hence, holding out on trading him in the offseason. For now, it looks like they are holding onto him until the trade deadline.

For Kane, this could be his chance at getting a fourth championship ring. Although it’s totally reasonable for him to stick with the Blackhawks throughout the rebuild, he is almost too valuable for the organization to hold on to without at least considering a trade.

It may put a dent in his legacy if he doesn’t his career out with the Blackhawks. However, it is a logical step for him to take. He could go to a contender, or at least a team guaranteed in the playoffs and carry them as far as possible.

For now, however, it all seems to be up in the air whether he’ll be moved or not, as more information is coming out daily.
