Max Domi’s NHL Career So Far

Domi, son of former NHL player Tie, was drafted by the then-Phoenix Coyotes in 2013 with the 12th overall pick. He was later traded to the Montreal Canadiens, then moved on to the Columbus Blue Jackets and finally the Carolina Hurricanes, before hitting free agency. The Winnipeg-born forward has scored a total 314 points in 501 games. This includes last season’s 32 points in 79 appearances, which were split between the Blue Jackets and Hurricanes.

What Will Max Domi Bring to His New Team

By signing Domi, his new team has gained a small but fiery forward. After a sparkling junior career with the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League, he has ultimately not met the lofty expectations that many had for him. Furthermore, his concerning defensive play does often cause frustration. However, he has proven to be able to be a useful weapon to have.

Although he prefers to be playing at centre, the 27-year-old is able to play in multiple positions. This versatility will be highly desirable when injuries start to take their toll after a long season. Not only that, but Domi’s playmaking skills combined with his tricky pace will be able to cause more chances for his future line. As depth scoring is essential, this is a crucial asset to have.

Teammates and fans alike will also love the snarl that the Canadian brings to the ice. Never afraid to drop the mitts and back a teammate, Domi can also deliver big hits for a player his size. With the forward projected to feature in the middle or bottom six, having buckets of grit to complement his raw talent is essential to being a key signing.
